You really can't blame the all people who lived here before us. The yard this house sits on is huge, and like the house, was really weird. There were multiple problems. 1) A bunch of stumps. Most of these stumps were buried in huge mounds. It made the yard look like it was rolling.

Is that a jungle? No, it's a spider-infested, over-grown cluster of bamboo and rhododendrons blocking the walk-way to the back yard.
Problem #2: Too many trees. They probably had to clear a few when building the house, but there are so many trees on this piece of property that it's so shaded.
We love trees, so we won't take them all down, but we also want some grass and veggies to grow, so we had to bring more light into the yard. Thanks to a chain saw-toting husband, we fixed that problem.
Problem #3: A lot of work that required a large machine and a skilled laborer. Enter Neal's talented Uncle Jeff and Cousin Brian. This project would have been incredibly expensive to do if we had to pay full retail. Amazingly, we didn't have to, so we were able to give this yard the once over it needed.

The front hump is gone! The yard is flat! We're so happy! |
