Details...

So, hi, it's us again, the crazy remodelers. I'm very excited to show you a few more details around the bathroom project. The first thing, that was technically there the first time I showed the bathroom, were the hooks on the wall. I decided that hooks are better than towel bars for a number of reasons: 1) I don't like folding towels or hanging them on towel bars 2) I really don't like smelling a towel that got put on a towel bar after it's been wet and then dried while on that towel bar 3) Hooks look cool.

The hooks are located pretty high up on the wall. That wall is tall, and so is my husband, so we hung it high enough that he wouldn't gouge his eye while walking by.

Then, I thought some antlers would be cool in the bathroom. I didn't know how to display them, but this was a simple way to do it:
I need to add a few pictures, but that will happen slowly.

The best part of the bathroom that we (Neal) did today is the bathroom door. I thought a sliding barn door would be really cool. My cool ideas always mean lots of work for Neal. Always. I frequently stalk the website of a store called Second Use in Seattle. It's a building supply recycle place. There's some junk and there are some treasures. I found these doors, and we purchased one. It's solid fir with no cut outs for hardware, in perfectly new condition.

Then it was time (for Neal) to stain it:

And voila! Another lovely project complete.

And, remember the closet doors we used to have before this bathroom was created? I made Neal keep one of the mirrors (he was not catching my vision, so I had to twist his arm to make him keep one). It was so huge, and I know fancy full-length mirrors can be so expensive. So I asked Neal if he could take off the gold door/closet frame and build a wood frame for the mirror. Of course, he did, and it turned out great. I love it. It's a great, and useful, addition to our bedroom.
